How Your Advisor Can Help
Your advisor is your academic mentor and guide on your educational journey at Carlow. Developing a good working relationship with your advisor can significantly enhance your academic experience and confidence.

Until you select a major your advisor will help you explore areas of study, make referrals to the Career Center for online career interest assessment, and discuss options. Once you have selected a major an advisor assigned from your major will lend expertise and guidance on undergraduate, graduate and/or professional directions.

Advisors can help you:

When to See an Advisor
Make an appointment with your advisor by phone, E-mail or in person during office hours if you would like to discuss academic issues or questions.

Advisors often have signup sheets posted on their office doors prior to registration. Your advisor also reviews and signs forms for cross registrations, permission to take a course off campus, add/drop forms, etc. If you change majors your advisor will likely change to someone in the new major. And, if for any reason you would like to change advisors, a form to request a new advisor is available in the Registrar’s office.
